tried to remember to take pix of the half completed trusses. so a few triangle thingies are pointing down. we had to carry them from the lawn and lift them up on the walls so they would hang upside down.

then we tipped them up using a long 2x4 and a ladder (needed a good 4 ft of space between each rafter - which meant the last few needed to be up before we nailed them - very very scary). big balancing act.

mark took the camera up on the ladder for the obscura point of view. i am NOT a fan of heights. i'm not looking forward to sheathing this thing. it was hard enough to heft the 4x8 sheets of osb on the front entrance, this has at least 30 times as many boards...

this is the boxed in front entrance. we were finally able to move the osb to the place where the door will actually be. so it looks like a big plywood box for the moment. but really, one should notice the TAR PAPER on the top of the roof. and the flashing. we had a rainstorm monday morning (yah. i guess that was today. my how time flies). the roof didn't leak like the waterfall we had last week...

we're contemplating leaving the "flagpole" the red flag is the menard's plastic thingie we stuck on so we could drive the 20 ft ridge board home (hanging 15 ft off the end of the explorer). scary ride home...

we took about 80 pictures over the past few days, but instead of boring you of every small step, here's the result to date. not bad, eh?

i know it doesn't look like much progress, but yes, indeedlydee, it is.
i will probably post more pictures of the smaller detaily stuff tomorrow, but as it stands, this is where we've been spending much of our time.

and i've graduated from gopher to actual worker bee. yes. i DID actually knock that baby down myself!

mr gorbechev, tear down that wall!!!

and this is where edison spent her day. convinced that a chipmunk was under/in this pile BURNABLE wood (one of many keeper piles of mark's). yes, there WAS a chipmunk, but it left when edison wasn't looking and hid under the 2nd dumpster. edison never figured that one out. Posted by Picasa

we were busy this weekend, and even i can say i did some tangible schtuff. take, for instance, these beauties. 2 cans of spray paint and one whopper of a headache later, the beams in the basement are CONCEALED - you can't even see them, can you???

and this is the OTHER huge thing i did - mainly on my own. mark was quite concerned that i damage the siding that was removed. cuz, even though we're only going to re-use a fraction of what came off, we MIGHT have a need for it. i swear, we're going to have to build another shed, just for all the "GOOD" wood we are keeping (ya never know...)

see? i CAREFULLY laid each and every board down on the ground, nails pointing down. of course, the minute the dawg sees the poodles walking by, she'll clomp all over the pile. or children. not ours, of course, cuz they're mostly gone this week, but others. a pile is a pile to be trod upon...

and then we did a lot of work in the garage (den). well, actually, markus detritus did most of the garage/den work - INCLUDING removing much of the detritus. of course, we're working around the rest of it - i'm sure it won't be removed till the night of the 24th, before the carpet guys are scheduled...

busy busy weekend, yah?

and this is the OTHER project mark started on today

heck, i mean, if you have the (2nd) dumpster, you may as well USE it, aina hey?

no really, this wall had to come out so mark could/can run electrical and other pipe thingies into the old garage.

hey, mom - you can use the UPSTAIRS bathroom if this one isn't put back together by the time you arrive. who KNOWS what lives behind these stairs, eh?

and you all thought we'd just hang out and light fireworks all day, eh?

well, wrong again. mark was a busy busy beaver today, pulling up tile and removing walls AND removing the insulation behind the walls. i helped when i could, but, golly, i just needed a nap...

see how nice the subfloor looks now? first we smashed up all the tile, then we had to scraaaape it all up with a shovel. finally, mark had to go in the basement with the shop vac and suck up at least a few gallons of extra silt that made it down. i'm sure it will be settling for days...

all that grey/brown stuff is the blown in insulation. the nice fresh pink stuff is what DIDN'T fall on his head. we had to bag up the other stuff, cuz markie mark didn't want to waste the space in the (2nd) dumpster.

and once the four walls of the gayrahge were up, we started demolition on the front entrance. ok, actually, MARK started demolition. i was only allowed to throw the chunks into the dumpster. this was the front closet halfway thru, and below was the front closet when we got rid of most of it. we're afeared to sawzall thru the outside just yet, cuz you KNOW it'll rain for days once we do...

looks pretty dang sparse, don'a hey?

oh yah. i guess i DID get to demo a bit. this was a bench. yippee for me...

the four walls are up!!!

now all we have to wait for are the triangle thingies that go on top.

next week? next month??? soon, they say...

know what's even better? the neighbors won't be able to tell if we're home or not cuz they won't be able to see our cars parked in the street or gravel pit we're calling a driveway.

(but i gay-rohn-tee markus delirious will be pulling them in the mostly walled up thang tonite, just for sport....)
